Psalm 24:3ā6 (ESV)
3 Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.
5 He will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? Who is able to reach up to God and stand in his presence? The answer is the one whose hands are clean. The one who has a pure heart. The one who is not a liar or deceiver. Unfortunately, this leaves al of us out. None of us is clean. None of us is pure. We have all lied and deceived. None of us are worthy to enter into the presence of God. What are we to do?
Thankfully, Jesus Christ has done what we could not. Jesus lived the perfect, sinless life that is required and then gave his life as a substitute for all who will believe. He took our sin upon himself and his righteousness is given to us. This allows those who have trusted in Christ to stand in the presence of God with sins forgiven and with eternal life. It is not because we have obtained it ourselves, but because Jesus has done it all for us. Praise his name!
