Shaped by the Word is a daily, Bible-reading devotional. I do not publish supplemental material on Sundays, but I do include a suggested Scripture reading. Please be sure to subscribe to this page so you can follow along every day. We are currently reading through the life of Jesus Christ.
Reading the Word
Matthew 24:9–14 (ESV)
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Parallel Texts: Mark 13:9-13; Luke 21:12-19
I love these verses. Others will betray and hurt us but God is our deliverer. In Him will we trust and those that see us rise from the trials and tribulations completely submitted to, and following, Jesus will be amazed. This is the testimony that many will believe and follow for they will understand that this God has the power to save. Not because it is declared but because it is observed.
Blessings,
