Walk Carefully

Ephesians 5:15–17 (ESV) – 15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

If you are like me, most of the day comes and goes without a great deal of thought about my actions. I get up, get dressed, drop the kids off at school, go to the office, go to lunch, go home, have dinner, talk with the family, and then I go to bed. There may be some other things that get thrown in there, but that is the basic structure of my day.

The thing is, I probably do not think enough about the different decisions I make each day and how I spend my time. The days are evil and we need to be wise. We cannot be passive or reactionary, but must live proactively to ensure that we are living according to the will of the Lord. We must be careful how we walk. What decisions are we making? What are we allowing to have influence on us and our families? Are we taking every opportunity to tell others about the love of Christ? Let us be careful and wise with our time.
