The Attributes of God: Eternal

Isaiah 40:28 (ESV)
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.

God is eternal. We see this truth mentioned in many places in Scripture. You can look at passages such as Isaiah 40:28, Psalm 90:2, and Habakkuk 1:12.

When we examine Scripture, we see that this attribute is also ascribed to Jesus. Compare passages such as Revelation 1:8 and Revelation 22:13.

Once again, it is hard for us to think of one who is eternal. We are left with unanswerable questions: Where did God come from? How did he get here? The only answer is that he always was and always will be. God is unlike everything we can see or touch, because all of those other things have a beginning and an end. God is the one through whom all things originate. He is the Unmoved Mover who has set all things in motion.
