Reading the Word
Romans 12:1–2 (ESV)
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Understanding and Applying the Word
God wants all of us. Everything we do, every word we say, and every thought we think should be for his glory and an act of worship. This takes a transformation of our hearts and minds as we submit to the word of God and the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives.
We often think of worship as the singing of songs on Sunday mornings, but our worship must be much bigger than that. Singing songs on Sundays is a wonderful and needed thing for us, but all of life must be lived as an act of worship. Worship is our response to what God has said and done, whether in Scripture or in our lives. How we live in response to God is a display of our love for him and his grace towards us. May we seek to glorify him in every area of our lives, whether in thought or deed.
